In July last year a lovely couple was referred to us by another of our long term clients. They wanted to sell the home they had lived in for 35 years. They loved the house, the place where they had raised a family and which had provided them with so much happiness
over the years. The beautiful but large garden required endless hours of work and the house was now too large for just the two of them, so they decided that it was time to move on.

They approached an agent to market and sell their house. The agent’s feedback was overwhelming, so much needed to be done in order to attract buyers and this left the couple both confused and unhappy.

No Chintz was approached to help bring their home up to date, to make it look stylish and appealing. This wasn’t simply a job for a home stylist and it required more than just a coat of paint.

The clients had a realistic budget and were prepared to invest in well planned, well executed interiors with good quality finishes and furnishings.

We wanted to create a house that would attract young families. Currently, the layout included both formal living and dining rooms. Today’s modern family is looking for a more informal home, where the kitchen, living room and bathroom are within close proximity of
one another. A must when tackling eating, bathing and quiet time! The rooms were given new purpose without the need for a full renovation.

The kitchen was updated, again without tackling a complete re-model, with a fresh colour scheme and new flooring.

We recommended taking up the carpet in the entry and finishing and re-staining the floors to give the house a fresh, open and elegant feel.

The coloured cornices and trims were painted out and the dated light fixtures were replaced.

The old and dated window furnishings were replaced with simpler treatments and lighter fabrics.

The wonderful features of the house were hidden by art and furniture the couple had collected over the years. Larger pieces were put into storage and the remaining furniture was rearranged to look more contemporary. The art was re-hung in a more modern way.

From start to finish, the whole process took close to five months. Our clients were thrilled with the result and wished they’d done it earlier when they first thought about moving.
