Why reupholster instead of buying new?
Some pieces of furniture are worth keeping. Older furniture often comes with solid timber frames, proper springing and construction meant to last decades rather than a few years, and reupholstery preserves that foundation while giving the piece a fresh look. It's a smart option for anything with sentimental value or proportions that suit your room particularly well.
What's involved in reupholstering a piece of furniture?
Reupholstery is a hands on, skilled trade, and one with fewer genuine experts left in Sydney than there used to be.
The process starts with stripping the piece back to its frame. From there the frame is inspected and repaired as needed, the springs and webbing are assessed, and the padding is renewed before we reupholster with your chosen fabric.
It's a slower process than buying off the shelf, but it's the reason a reupholstered piece can go on to last another few decades rather than a few years.

How do I choose fabric for a reupholstery project?
A reupholstered piece is a chance to change the whole character of a room, or to bring a favourite chair back in a fabric closer to your current style.
A standalone piece like an armchair is a great place to be bold with colour or pattern, while durable, textured fabrics are worth considering for high-use items like sofas and dining chairs as they will wear better and hide daily life more forgivingly than a delicate weave.
