Mosman House 2

The owners of this charming, quirky house came to us when they were about to embark on a renovation.

Originally built in the early 1900’s, the rooms are elegantly proportioned with high ceilings and traditional architectural elements.

Their taste was eclectic, not modern, and the interiors needed to compliment the character of the house and the wonderful pieces collected while living overseas. It also needed to be a practical family home.

Wanting to enhance the original features, trimmed curtains and blinds in patterned fabrics were chosen to add comfort and charm.  The walls were painted in a range of colours to individualise each room while also allowing the interior to flow and connect.  A rich red seagrass wallpaper was used in the dining room, providing the perfect background for Chinese cabinets and paintings.  Schumacher’s “Chiang Mai Dragon”, a modern Chinoiserie print, carries colour and pattern into the family room.

Our clients love the house so much they affectionately named it and often describe it as “a big warm hug”.
