Mosman House 3

Date Posted:22 February 2026

Mosman House 3 is a refined family home brought to life by No Chintz. Recently renovated and thoughtfully furnished, this project balances natural textures, layered colour and practical elegance to create a home that feels both relaxed and luxurious.

Chrissie’s latest No Chintz client meets me on the sidewalk overlooking what can be described as some of Sydney’s best views. Falling away from our elevated position are views of North Sydney across to the harbour bridge, spanning across the deep blue of Sydney harbour and the bustling activity of boats and ferries.

It is a sunny day, sparkling blue as we introduce ourselves, our No Chintz client is with her sweet grandchild and dog in tow. We enter the large double front doors, and step into the home, recently renovated, and decorated by No Chintz.

The front vestibule is covered in a pale green textured wallpaper. A bright green side cupboard acts cleverly as a console, with a pretty lamp on it. The walls in the front hallway reflect the greens and blues of the outdoors we have just stepped in from. Directly in front of the entryway, a wall of bookshelves and two comfortable armchairs in a fun signature No Chintz palampur print anchoring a large rug in organic striped neutrals furnish the library. Complete with sliding ladder for easy access to higher shelves (also, providing endless fun for grandchildren!) and elegant standing lamp, the owner tells me this is a favourite space. What was originally the dining room, Chrissie helped the owner transform this space into a quiet reading room.

The end of the library leads to a large covered outdoor terrace, while opposite the bookshelves, a half wall reveals the lounge room set a few steps below. The owner confesses to a love for natural products and colours, with no fuss, and things built and placed with thought and care.

The spaces which reveal themselves in this home certainly attest to that. Leading left from the front hall is a large and bright laundry room from which one can step out of into a sunny courtyard, to hang the washing.

This wing of the house, a retreat of two bedrooms and pretty bathroom are always at the ready for visiting family and guests. In one room a queen bed with a whimsical organic shaped bedhead upholstered in a fun green stripe, beautiful long linen drapes at the window and a delicious palate of colours making up the coverlet, pillows, sheets lamp and shade and cushions.

The client is particularly proud of the bathroom- the blush marble wall tiles were a must once they were found, but what bench top stone to match it with? She smiles delightedly at how No Chintz were able to find the perfect match.

Tucked between the guest bedrooms is a generously proportioned family room with a large and comfortable couch and armchair. TV, lounging, games, a space for guests or grandkids to get away if the owners of the house are entertaining. A coffee table with a soft top is upholstered in a cheeky check print, Bonnie and Nell cushions brighten and lighten, while a rust coloured boucle armchair invites you to linger.

We pop into the kitchen, and my host is immediately filled with enthusiasm - now this is quite obviously the hub of the house. As she loves to cook, the owner was quite sure about what she wanted here. And indeed, there’s a place for everything, making it an efficient cook’s haven. No Chintz touches mark the space: a smart but casual dining suite beyond the kitchen bench which fits just so: the blues of the chair upholstery reflecting the pool outside. The colours melding perfectly from corridors and the outdoor porch to the kitchen cabinets, and the soft pale roman blinds which give the kitchen area an elegance usually saved for more formal spaces.

Stepping onto the covered outdoor patio, No Chintz has curated a beautiful area for entertaining. ‘This is the green room’ my host laughs, ‘the colour is called Algae!’. ‘I like that it’s all easy’, she says. The No Chintz ethos is one that goes for style with practicality and here, it is a masterclass of exactly that.

With a pair of square, tile topped tables fitted together, extended family and friends can gather comfortably. Pull them apart, and the owners dining by themselves immediately have a scaled down dining table just for two. Surrounded by luxurious potted greenery, the dining area spills out to the pool where fun and comfortable all weather wicker furniture with water resistant upholstery means they are perfect for lounging even in wet bathing costumes.

Stepping down the few stairs into the living room feels like entering a sunken lounge of a bygone era, except that Chrissie and Catherine who led this project have given this room with stunning harbour views a smooth, contemporary edge.

Two large armchairs face into the room, covered in yet another delicious palette of natural tones, the pattern reminiscent of shells on a beach. The owner points out that the chairs are firmly upholstered and not low slung, for ease of getting in and out. Clever!

A pair of overlapping coffee tables, part glass part raffia, the textures combining perfectly to add a quiet richness, serve a central function. Scattered across the window seat, the couch and chairs are plump cushions in tans and oranges and blues. Pale blue walls, textured pebble coloured fabric for floor to ceiling drapes all give this room an air of understated luxury. The owner lingers in this room, remembering the time carefully taken over details like finding the perfect sideboard along one wall, the curtains and which way they’d draw back and forth.

Above the lounge is the master bedroom retreat with the same million-dollar views. Here the theme is unmistakably about peace and rest. The thick folds of pale linen cascading from ceiling to floor, an easy chair in muted gold tones placed to enjoy the view, and the bed dressed in organic fabrics in hues that reflect the changing blues and whites of the sky and water outside.  A subtle ikat chosen for the bedhead and footstool weave a pale gold, sky blue and muted greys together. Grace and serenity reigns.

A problem with the roof, a leak in the entry floor, and other hurdles that anyone involved in a renovation is only too familiar with, meant this owner’s project extended beyond the time she hoped would be completed. Luckily, No Chintz was able to work in with the hiccups and lags, taking away the stresses of furniture arriving ahead of completion dates, and other such dramas.

‘Lovely people’, the client smiles. ‘So easy to work with- they were great’. Catherine who the client worked with through the Willoughby store, would gather furniture pieces, fabric swatches and paint samples, and regular visits together helped form a theme for the client’s new home.

‘Catherine really made the work fly’, the homeowner says. ‘No Chintz was the least of my worries as I dealt with all the building issues and problems which kept cropping up.’

It is clear that this recently completed home, built and furnished with attention and care will be deeply enjoyed by its occupants, visiting friends and extended family.
